Football Recap: Wasilla Warriors vs. North Pole Patriots
Wasilla was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 43-20 to the North Pole Patriots. The Warriors lost against the Patriots in their previous head to head back in September of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 22-21 score last time.
North Pole had a senior duo take command as Braiden Martin threw for 252 yards and two touchdowns while completing 81.3% of his passes and Devin Cooper-Jackson rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Cooper-Jackson's longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Patrick Mevin was another key player, rushing for 69 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Wasilla's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for North Pole, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.
Wasilla will head out to square off against Barrow on Friday. As for North Pole, they will take on Houston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
