Baseball Recap: Old Bridge Comes Up Short

Old Bridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Edison Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 on Tuesday.

Old Bridge got a good showing from Mike Chiarella, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Furthermore, Chiarella didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2025.

On the hitting side, Erich Shicksneit was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases. Chris Crosta was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Old Bridge's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Edison, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

While Old Bridge had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
