Laney waltzed into their match on Thursday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ashley Screaming Eagle, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Buccaneers have posted against the Screaming Eagle since March 14, 2023.

The team relied heavily on JB Brooks, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Carston Wedemeyer was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Laney's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ashley, their loss dropped their record down to 15-2.

Coming up, Laney will head out to challenge Randleman at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ashley, they will host Grace Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Screaming Eagle 2.6, the Crusaders 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
