Softball Game Preview: Oswego East Wolves vs. Plainfield Central Wildcats

The Oswego East Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Plainfield Central Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Oswego East has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Oswego East is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Kaneland just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 16-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wolves have suffered since April 24th.

Katie Maday made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Plainfield Central made easy work of Bolingbrook on Monday and carried off a 10-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Jamie Crawford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maeve Carlton, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Patterson, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Plainfield Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bolingbrook only managed four hits.

Plainfield Central now has a winning record of 11-10-1. As for Oswego East, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-10.

Oswego East skirted past Plainfield Central 7-6 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
