Avon is 9-1 against Plainfield since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Orioles will host the Quakers at 6:00 p.m.
Avon is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since April 18, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Franklin Central by a score of 4-2. The Orioles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Addie Forst spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Avon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marlee Shisler, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Shisler hit this season.
Meanwhile, Plainfield got the win against Whiteland on Wednesday by a conclusive 12-1. Considering the Quakers have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Plainfield also got a great performance from Sidney Parks as she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Parks has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kenzi Arnett was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Kami Arnett was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Plainfield and bumps their season record up to 7-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Avon, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Avon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Plainfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .360. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
