Softball Recap: Mayfield Wildcats vs. Magnificat Blue Streaks
While Mayfield didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They skirted past the Magnificat Blue Streaks 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since May 16, 2025.
Kameron Sills made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Sills was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lilly Pinzone, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Ella Garrett was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Mayfield's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Magnificat, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Coincidentally, Mayfield and Magnificat will both be playing Rocky River the next time they take the field. The Blue Streaks will host the Pirates at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Wildcats will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
