Basketball Game Preview: Freeman Academy/Marion vs. Burke Cougars

Freeman Academy/Marion will face off against the Burke Cougars at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Thursday, Freeman Academy/Marion escaped with a win against Scotland/Menno by the margin of a single free throw, 56-55.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Burke). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Colome 64-23.

Burke found their leader in sophomore Brody Indahl, who went 5-for-7 en route to 13 points. What's more, Indahl also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elijah Bartling, who posted nine points.

Burke was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Freeman Academy/Marion's win bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Burke, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-16.

Freeman Academy/Marion was able to grind out a solid win over Burke when the teams last played back in February of 2022, winning 69-60. Will Freeman Academy/Marion repeat their success, or does Burke have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
