Basketball Game Preview: Baker Braves vs. Mojave Mustangs

Baker is 0-7 against Mojave since December of 2014 but things could change on Wednesday. The Baker Braves will be playing at home against the Mojave Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. Both are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Baker is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Lee Vining: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Baker blew Lee Vining out of the water with a 42-15 final score. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Braves.

Anthony Ibarra and Anthony Ortiz were among the main playmakers for Baker as the former posted eight points along with 17 steals and eight assists and the latter went 6 of 15 en route to 18 points and eight steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Ortiz has scored at least a third of Baker's points. Another player making a difference was Alex Amador, who put up four points and ten rebounds.

Baker smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Mojave made easy work of Trona on Friday and carried off a 54-31 win.

Mojave's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Baker, they are also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Baker, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-32 loss to Mojave in their previous matchup back in January of 2023.
