Softball Game Preview: Goldthwaite Eagles vs. San Saba Armadillos

For the second straight game, Goldthwaite will face off against San Saba. Goldthwaite will welcome San Saba at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Goldthwaite has three straight wins, San Saba has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Friday, Goldthwaite made easy work of San Saba and carried off an 18-1 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 16 runs or more this season.

Danika Macias made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Goldthwaite let Kenley Howard and Brooke Roberts run wild. Howard scored five runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Roberts got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Howard has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ally McCarn, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

San Saba's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Goldthwaite, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
