Softball Recap: Abernathy Find Success

Abernathy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Idalou, but still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went the Abernathy Antelopes' way against the Idalou Wildcats on Friday as the Abernathy Antelopes made off with a 23-4 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Antelopes' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Bryer Cook was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3. Rylie Rexrode was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Abernathy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .833. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Abernathy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Idalou, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Abernathy has already played their next game, a 14-4 win against Estacado on the 22nd. As for Idalou, they will head out to square off against Liberty at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Idalou is facing Liberty at the right time seeing as Liberty is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
