Softball Recap: Brookfield Central Extends Winning Streak to Four

Brookfield Central extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 8-1 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Brookfield East Spartans. That's two games straight that the Lancers have won by just one run.

Lexi Eichhorn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Shar Fernando, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one double.

As for Brookfield East, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs.

On Brookfield East's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Annie Bennington, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Brookfield Central will square off against rival Wauwatosa West at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Brookfield East is set to challenge their familiar foe Germantown at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 2.8, the Warhawks 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
