Recap: Park Crossing Thunderbirds vs. Hillcrest Jaguars
The Park Crossing Thunderbirds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 71-53 to Hillcrest. Park Crossing was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hillcrest apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2015.
Robert Simpson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hillcrest, scoring 30 points along with eight rebounds. The game was Simpson's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Jermonte Stallworth was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds.
Park Crossing's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-7. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Hillcrest, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Park Crossing will challenge Ramsay at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hillcrest will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Monroe County at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Monroe County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Hillcrest is ranked 69th).
