Baseball Recap: Spring Valley Comes Up Short

Spring Valley came into this matchup off a tough nine-run loss on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Mid-Carolina Rebels by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Vikings have suffered since April 19, 2024.

Jayden Williams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Spring Valley is 4-2 when Williams posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Lawton, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Spring Valley and nudges their season record down to 7-12. As for Mid-Carolina, their victory bumped their record up to 15-7.

Looking ahead, Spring Valley will challenge Chapin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mid-Carolina, they will square off against Fairfield Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
