Preview: Silver Creek Dragons vs. Scottsburg Warriors
Silver Creek has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Scottsburg Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, everything came up roses for Silver Creek at home against Salem as the squad secured a 79-44 victory. Given Silver Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Salem is ranked 400th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kasen Daeger was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 5 assists. Another player making a difference was Dane Sprigler, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Scottsburg can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat South Decatur 79-38 on the road. The win was familiar territory for Scottsburg who now have three in a row.
Silver Creek's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Scottsburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Silver Creek was taken down by Scottsburg 80-48 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can Silver Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
