Basketball Recap: Martel Peters Key Part of a Team Effort in Phoenix Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against KIPP SF College Prep, Marshall was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They snuck past the San Francisco International Huskies with a 52-48 win. This was payback for the Phoenix, who suffered a 67-42 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Marshall's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Martel Peters, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. Peters is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Deshon Grayson, who went 6 for 12 en route to 18 points and six rebounds.

Marshall smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Marshall has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for San Francisco International, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshall will head out to challenge Burton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for San Francisco International, they are taking a road trip to square off against Sterne at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
