Baseball Game Preview: South Western Mustangs vs. Ephrata Mountaineers

South Western is 2-7 against Ephrata since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Mustangs will face off against the Mountaineers at 7:00 p.m. South Western has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

South Western fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Red Lion on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 16-15.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Ephrata ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past Manheim Central 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mountaineers have posted since March 24th.

Ephrata saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camryn Simes, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Ethan Hunt was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

South Western's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Ephrata, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.

South Western took their victory against Ephrata in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mountaineers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
