Soccer Game Preview: Rodriguez vs. Orland

The Rodriguez Mustangs will challenge the Orland Trojans at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Last Monday, Rodriguez narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Leadership Public Schools Richmond 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Orland's game on Tuesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Kelseyville. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Knights are ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rodriguez's victory bumped their record up to 3-1-1. As for Orland, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.

Rodriguez beat Orland by a goal in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rodriguez since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
