Baseball Game Preview: Lassen Grizzlies vs. West Valley Eagles

Lassen is on a three-game streak of home wins, while West Valley is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Grizzlies will host the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Lassen and Central Valley had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Grizzlies put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 10-3 victory on Friday. With that win, the Grizzlies brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Connor Kirack, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Peyton Garate, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, West Valley has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.9 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They blew past University Prep 16-10. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Tait Brimhall was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. Gunner Church was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

West Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.

Lassen's victory bumped their record up to 15-9. As for West Valley, their win bumped their record up to 17-3.

Everything went Lassen's way against West Valley in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Lassen made off with a 15-6 victory. Do the Grizzlies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
