Basketball Recap: Canyon Ridge Comes Up Short

Canyon Ridge lost against Thunder Ridge back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Canyon Ridge Riverhawks fell 53-41 to the Thunder Ridge Titans. While losing is never fun, the Riverhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Titans are ranked 33rd).

Despite the loss, Canyon Ridge still got an impressive performance from Mason Hill, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. That's the most points Hill has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was David Rothweiler, who put up five points and five boards.

Among those leading the charge was Camden Bateman, who went 8 of 17 to rack up 16 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Haycock, who had six points.

Canyon Ridge has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Thunder Ridge, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Coming up, Canyon Ridge will take on Preston at 7:30 p.m. on February 12th. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Preston has 11 straight victories, Canyon Ridge has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court. As for Thunder Ridge, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-47 loss against Highland on the 7th.
