League recap: Woodstock climbs in state rankings with win

AAAAAA Region 5 recap Oct. 9, 2012

Woodstock moved up to 144 from 187 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AAAAAA Region 5. A 28-0 win over Cherokee helped the Wolverines improve their standing.

Lassiter extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Walton, 21-9. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

Wheeler's Elijah Staley and Emanuel Beal have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Staley has thrown for 673 yards this season, while Beal has 15 catches for 273 yards. Tyren Jones from the Raiders leads the league in rushing with 1120 yards.

Milton took down Etowah 59-27 last week, the largest margin of any game.
