Softball Recap: El Dorado Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

El Dorado's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Yorba Linda Mustangs a 5-0 shutout. This was payback for the Golden Hawks, who suffered a 3-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

The result came thanks to Emily Yoon's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Amy Cornelius was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.

El Dorado has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. Yorba Linda dropped their record down to 4-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Dorado will face off against Santiago at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Santiago's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so El Dorado's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Yorba Linda, they will take on Villa Park at 3:15 p.m. on March 11th.
