Basketball Recap: Bowie Takes a Loss

Bowie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pewitt Brahmas. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 31-28 back in January.

Leading Pewitt to victory were Wesley Smith and Zahkevion Betts. Smith went 9 of 14 en route to 22 points and eight rebounds, while Betts went 5 for 10 on his way to 13 points in addition to eight assists and six steals. That's the most points Smith has posted since back in December of 2024. Elijah Hill was another key player, going 5 of 7 to rack up 11 points and five boards.

Bowie's defeat dropped their record down to 16-14. As for Pewitt, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bowie will challenge Harts Bluff at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harts Bluff will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Bowie surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pewitt, they will face off against Rivercrest at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
