Softball Recap: Washington-Liberty Generals vs. Herndon Hornets
Washington-Liberty had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-10 to make it six. They lost 10-2 to the Herndon Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-7 on April 1st.
Celia Anbinder made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
As for Herndon, their win bumped their record up to 5-8. They not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st (when they won 13-3).
On Herndon's side, Cadence Godshalk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits. Godshalk has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Katie McGee was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Anna Korsvall was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four runs and two doubles.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington-Liberty will square off against Wakefield at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Herndon, they will take on Tuscarora at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
