The Hendrick Hudson Sailors will challenge the Westlake Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Hendrick Hudson was handed a 12-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Pleasantville 8-7. The Sailors haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Meanwhile, while Westlake put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Lakeland. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Hornets. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.
Mikey Sica made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Westlake is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Sica was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Kieran Murray and Marcus Jackette did most of the damage at the plate: Murray went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Jackette went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Murray is becoming a predictor of Westlake's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Frank Vessa, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Westlake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
The win got Westlake back to even at 4-4. As for Hendrick Hudson, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.
Hendrick Hudson suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Westlake when the teams last played back in April. Will the Sailors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
