Basketball Recap: Lamar Skates Past Ware Shoals with Ease

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lamar had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Ware Shoals Hornets 74-28. The Silver Foxes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Leading Lamar to victory were Lamont Williams and Kamil McCoy. Williams dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while McCoy went 6-for-11 on his way to 15 points and three steals. Williams is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nygel Eaddy, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 11 points and seven rebounds.

Lamar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 22 consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Ware Shoals still got an impressive performance from Charles Callaham, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jay Watson, who scored four points.

Lamar has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points over those games. As for Ware Shoals, they dropped their record down to 9-16 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Lamar will take on Hunter-Kinard-Tyler at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Silver Foxes' defense better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 57.8 points per game this season. Ware Shoals does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
