Softball Game Preview: Fleetwood Tigers vs. Daniel Boone Blazers

The Fleetwood Tigers will face off against the Daniel Boone Blazers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Fleetwood had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Oley Valley on Tuesday. Fleetwood blew past Oley Valley 12-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Daniel Boone). They never let Antietam get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Tuesday.

Aubrey Garman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Garman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Daniel Boone got a massive performance out of Lily Gonzalez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was Gonzalez's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Skye Bui, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2.

Daniel Boone was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Daniel Boone's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Fleetwood, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Everything went Fleetwood's way against Daniel Boone in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Fleetwood made off with a 12-1 victory. Does Fleetwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Daniel Boone turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
