Baseball Recap: San Luis Gets the Win

San Luis came out on top against Gila Ridge on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run seventh inning. The Sidewinders took their matchup against the Hawks 7-3. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 6-1 win on Tuesday.

Luis Cunningham made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cunningham was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other pitching news, Santiago Partida looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

Back at the plate, Santiago Gastelum was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Rodolfo Acosta was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

San Luis hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.

San Luis' record now sits at 16-8-1. As for Gila Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-18.

Coming up, San Luis will welcome Skyline at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Coyotes will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Sidewinders surely won't give up without a fight. Gila Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
