Softball Recap: Sahuaro Cougars vs. Canyon del Oro Dorados
Sahuaro had lost 17 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 0-14 to make it 18. They lost 17-0 to the Canyon del Oro Dorados. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 7-1 to the Dorados when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Canyon del Oro, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 25-3. The result was nothing new for the Dorados, who have now won 21 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
For Canyon del Oro's part, they let Molly Herman and Taya Kelly run wild. Herman went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Kelly went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Herman has posted since back in March. Sammy Hudgens was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Coming up, Sahuaro will square off against Mica Mountain at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Canyon del Oro, they will face off against Catalina Foothills at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
