Basketball Recap: St. Mary's-Colgan Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Mary's-Colgan). They took their match on Monday with ease, bagging a 73-24 victory over the Independence Bulldogs. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win (which was St. Mary's-Colgan's eighth in a row) raised their record to 15-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.9 points over those games. As for Independence, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-11-2 record this season.
