South Gibson was the 3-0 winner over Obion County when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The South Gibson Hornets fell just short of the Obion County Rebels by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Hornets just can't catch a break and have now endured seven defeats in a row.
South Gibson took Obion County into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The final score came out to 12-25, 25-15, 25-14, 18-25, 16-14.
Even though they lost, South Gibson was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September of 2023.
South Gibson's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Obion County, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 2-5 record.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Gibson will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Crockett County at 5:00 p.m. As for Obion County, they will venture away from home to challenge Halls at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Obion County is facing Halls at the right time seeing as Halls is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
