Baseball Recap: Oberlin Comes Up Short

Oberlin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Black River Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-8 on Thursday.

Oberlin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Walter, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another was Julian Anderson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Oberlin's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Black River, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Pirates beat Oberlin by a score of 9-8 later that day.
