Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for South River

There's no place like home for South River, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They skirted past the Arundel Wildcats 7-6. The Seahawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats on Friday, too.

Evan Schreier was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. Nolan Hooker was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

South River's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Arundel, their record is now 2-7.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. South River is set to square off against their familiar foe Chesapeake at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Seahawks 4, the Cougars 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Arundel will challenge rival Southern at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
