Baseball Game Preview: St. John's Bluejays vs. Versailles Tigers

The St. John's Bluejays are taking a road trip to face off against the Versailles Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. John's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Versailles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

St. John's came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against St. Henry, falling 8-1. The Bluejays have struggled against the Redskins recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

St. John's saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cam Elwer, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Tyler Lindeman also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Versailles came out on top against Miami East on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Tigers blew past the Vikings 11-1. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Matt Subler was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Monnin, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Versailles has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for St. John's, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

St. John's came up short against Versailles in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 7-2. Can the Bluejays avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
