St. Charles North faced Wheaton North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The North Stars came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 5-2. The win was familiar territory for the North Stars, who have now won three contests in a row.

Paige Murray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Mackenzie Patterson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Zawadzki, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

St. Charles North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wheaton North only posted a batting average of .154.

St. Charles North's record now sits at 14-4. As for Wheaton North, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Charles North will welcome Batavia at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wheaton North, they will be playing at home against Oswego at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 11.2 runs per game this season.
