Preview: Hug Hawks vs. Sparks Railroaders
Hug has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Sparks Railroaders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Hug suffered their biggest loss since November 25, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against South Tahoe, falling 60-16. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hug in their matchups with South Tahoe: they've now lost seven in a row.
Taliyah Henderson was Hug's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Meanwhile, Sparks' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by North Valleys at home and fell 49-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Sparks has suffered against North Valleys since January 11, 2019.
Hug bumped their record down to 0-11 with that loss, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.6 points per game. As for Sparks, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Hug took their win against Sparks in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 46-24. Will Hug repeat their success, or does Sparks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
