Volleyball Recap: Brooke Thiel and Stevie Chicka Secure Win for Newman Catholic

After losing to Athens the last time they met, Newman Catholic decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Fighting Cardinals walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Bluejays on Saturday.

Newman Catholic was led to victory by Stevie Chicka and Brooke Thiel. Chicka had eight digs and three assists, while Thiel had three digs and three aces. Those eight digs gave Chicka a new career-high.

Newman Catholic's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Athens, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

Looking ahead, Newman Catholic will take on Marathon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Athens, they will head out on the road to challenge Abbotsford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Bluejays surely won't give up without a fight.
