League recap: Centerville wins, gets boost in standings

Centerville was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in Tri-Eastern. The Bulldogs defeated Cambridge City Lincoln 43-20 earlier in the week.

Northeastern moved up to 192 from 221 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Knights were able to make move up by beating Hagerstown 44-8.

Tyler Weaver and Austin Killion gave Centerville a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Weaver threw for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Killion ran for 159 yards. Bryce Robinson also contributed to the rushing game with 51 yards on the ground.

Weaver and Killion gave Perry Irwin's team a balanced attack through the air and ground last week.

Kyler Baker was the best wideout in the league this week as the Golden Eagles fell to the Bulldogs. Baker tallied 5 receptions for 107 yards. Cody Taylor helped Cambridge City Lincoln's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 53 yards.

Weaver put up the best numbers in passing as Centerville bested Cambridge City Lincoln. Weaver's favorite target this week was Austin Mavity, who caught 2 passes for 68 yards.

Killion was the best running back in Tri-Eastern this week.

The Bulldogs' Weaver and Austin Hall have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Weaver has thrown for 717 yards this season, while Hall has 11 catches for 274 yards. Northeastern's Kelsy Kirkland leads the league in rushing yards with 479.

Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when Centerville takes on Union City. The Bulldogs' offense has recorded 124 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Indians have permitted only 69 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Centerville takes on Union City. The Bulldogs are currently in fourth, while Kevin Maloy's team is in third.

Tri fell to Shenandoah 60-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
