The SEC Game of the Week on CBS will have huge recruiting implications.
Video: Highlights of Demetris Robertson, a former Alabama commit now considering GeorgiaNational title hopes are on the line when Alabama travels to Athens on Saturday to take on Georgia.
There are huge recruiting implications to the matchup as well, as numerous uncommitted four- and five-star recruits will be paying attention to arguably the weekend's biggest game.
Here's the rundown on the top uncommitted players with an interest in the Georgia-Alabama showdown.
Rashan Gary, Paramus Catholic (N.J.)Position: Defensive Tackle
247Sports Composite Rank: No. 1247Sports Crystal Ball leader: Michigan
Fresh off a visit to Ann Arbor, Gary appears to be favoring the Wolverines. However, he has also visited both Athens and Tuscaloosa. A statement victory by either team on Saturday could go a long way toward luring the nation's No. 1 overall recruit. Neither program is unaccustomed to landing blue-chip recruits from the Garden State.
Isaac Nauta, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.)Position: Tight End
247Sports Composite Rank: No. 9247Sports Crystal Ball leader: Georgia
Alabama would certainly love to have Nauta, who was committed to Florida State for about seven months. Since his decommitment, Georgia appears to be the front runner.
Derrick Brown, Lanier (Sugar Hill, Ga.)Position: Defensive Tackle
247Sports Composite Rank: No. 10247Sports Crystal Ball leader: Georgia
Brown's Crystal Ball reads 100% to Georgia. A win against Alabama would probably clinch it for the Bulldogs. Still, Alabama has emerged as the unlikely victor in many recruiting battles. Remember when the Crimson Tide plucked Rashaan Evans from Auburn High School? A'Shawn Robinson from Texas?
Lyndell "Mack" Wilson, Carver (Montgomery, Ala.)Position: Linebacker
247Sports Composite Rank: No. 13247Sports Crystal Ball leader: Alabama
Wilson holds an offer from Georgia — and just about every other school in America. However, his Crystal Ball heavily favors Alabama. A Crimson Tide victory could only help its chances.
Ben Davis, Gordo (Ala.)Position: Linebacker
247Sports Composite Rank: No. 16247Sports Crystal Ball leader: Alabama
Gordo is another Alabama lean — according to his 247Sports timeline, he's taken nearly a dozen unofficial visits to Tuscaloosa. Georgia doesn't appear to be a player for Gordo. It's likely that nothing short of a lost season for Alabama will keep him from joining the Crimson Tide.
Mecole Hardman, Elbert County (Elberton, Ga.)Position: Linebacker
247Sports Composite Rank: No. 21247Sports Crystal Ball leader: Georgia
Hardman is a superb linebacker, and it would spell trouble for Georgia (and the rest of the SEC) if the Bulldogs allowed Alabama to add Hardman to a linebacker haul that is likely to include both Wilson and Davis.
Demetris Robertson, Savannah Christian (Ga.)Position: Athlete
247Sports Composite Rank: No. 32247Sports Crystal Ball leader: Georgia
Robertson's recruitment is tough to read. He was committed to Alabama at one time, but now his Crystal Ball favors the in-state Bulldogs. However, the three most recent Crystal Ball predictions have come in for Notre Dame, and Robertson has also been linked to Stanford. The Cardinal is hosting Arizona, while Notre Dame has a huge matchup with Clemson. Knocking off Alabama would certainly help Georgia's chances.
Nathan McBride, Vidalia (Ga.)Position: Linebacker
247Sports Composite Rank: No. 30 (2017)
247Sports Crystal Ball leader: Georgia
Perhaps the most hotly contested recruit between the two schools is McBride, a junior whose Crystal Ball narrowly favors Georgia over Alabama by a 60-40 margin. His recruitment appears to be rather far along, despite his being only a junior. He's been to Athens twice and attended Alabama's Junior Day in the spring.
