Western Reserve hadn't done well against Sandusky recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Roughriders had just enough and edged out the Blue Streaks 8-7. This was payback for the Roughriders, who suffered a 10-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Layken Barnhart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Bralee Heyman was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Lilliana Jarrett, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Western Reserve's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-16. As for Sandusky, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-14.

Western Reserve does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sandusky, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-3 loss against Edison on the 19th.
