Preview: North Smithfield Northmen vs. Toll Gate Titans
After two games on the road, North Smithfield is heading back home. They will take on the Toll Gate Titans at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Toll Gate took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on North Smithfield, who comes in off a win.
Even though North Smithfield has not done well against Pilgrim recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. North Smithfield took down Pilgrim 39-25.
Mya Silveira and Kate Zonin were among the main playmakers for North Smithfield as the former scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks and the latter scored seven points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Labonte, who scored two points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Toll Gate faced North Providence in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Toll Gate took a 49-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Providence. Toll Gate has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
North Smithfield has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Toll Gate, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.
North Smithfield was able to grind out a solid win over Toll Gate when the teams last played back in January, winning 43-35. Does North Smithfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will Toll Gate turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
