Softball Recap: Melba Drops Season-High Score on West Jefferson

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Melba). Everything went their way against the West Jefferson Panthers on Friday as they made off with a 17-2 victory. With that win, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 7.4 runs per game.

Kali Adams made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those hits were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Melba let Kodi Adams and Analyse Durham run wild. Adams scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Durham scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Adams a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tamar Agenbroad, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Melba always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Melba's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for West Jefferson, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Melba will square off against Vision at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for West Jefferson, they will face off against New Plymouth at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
