Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Vacaville's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Vacaville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Freedom Falcons. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.

Nolan Collins tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Vacaville's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jaiden Oldwin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave Oldwin a new career-high.

Vacaville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Freedom, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vacaville will square off against Vanden at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Vikings have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Freedom, they will face off against Pittsburg at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 3, the Pirates 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
