Softball Game Preview: American Leadership Academy Patriots vs. Batesburg-Leesville Panthers

The American Leadership Academy Patriots will head out to take on the Batesburg-Leesville Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. American Leadership Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for American Leadership Academy after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Strom Thurmond by a score of 14-13. While the Patriots didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rebels 4-0 in the first period.

Brennan Wilson and Ella Lemonis did some serious damage despite the final result: Wilson scored a run while going 4-for-5, while Lemonis scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Wilson a new career-high in doubles (two). Alexis Klaffka was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: American Leadership Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Batesburg-Leesville challenged Ninety Six on Friday. Batesburg-Leesville came up short against Ninety Six, falling 15-0. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Batesburg-Leesville now has a losing record of 2-3-1. As for American Leadership Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8-1 record this season.
