Baseball Recap: Medford Extends Winning Streak to Three

Medford extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 4-6 in the process. They walked away with an 11-6 win over the Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Bulldogs. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 9-4 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Mason Krenz made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Landon Seiler was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Medford: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-6 otherwise. James Wagner also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Medford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.

As for Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

On Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton's side, Caleb Quast and Lucas Morsching stepped up to the plate in a big way. Quast went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Morsching went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Medford will welcome Waterville-Elysian-Morristown at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Buccaneers at the right time seeing as the Buccaneers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, they will take on Triton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
