Basketball Game Preview: LaVergne Wolverines vs. Smyrna Bulldogs

LaVergne is on a five-game streak of home losses, Smyrna a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The LaVergne Wolverines will host the Smyrna Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

LaVergne came up short against Wilson Central on Tuesday, falling 58-37. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Wildcats are ranked 136th).

Meanwhile, Smyrna took a blow against Cookeville on Tuesday, falling 58-19.

Smyrna's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for LaVergne, their loss dropped their record down to 3-17.

LaVergne took their win against Smyrna in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 40-15. Does LaVergne have another victory up their sleeve, or will Smyrna turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
