Basketball Recap: Evan Pressley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Blue Ridge Early College over Rosman

Blue Ridge Early College fought the good fight in their overtime game against Rosman on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rosman Tigers by a score of 56-53. The Bobcats' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evan Pressley, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Dakota Kinsey, who posted 13 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Rosman got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brayden Newman out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. Newman is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Derick Friend also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Blue Ridge Early College's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Rosman, the win snapped their losing streak at 24 games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-9 record.

Blue Ridge Early College didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 99-37 defeat against Murphy on the 17th. As for Rosman, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-29 loss against NCSSM: Morganton on the 17th.
