Softball Recap: Jefferson County Tigers vs. Godby Cougars
Jefferson County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 21-5 to the Godby Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 back in March.
Jakeria James and Faith Rigdon stepped up to the plate in a big way. James went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI, while Rigdon went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Evelyn Vargas also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Jefferson County's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Godby, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jefferson County will square off against Rickards at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Godby, they will welcome Gadsden County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
