Althoff Catholic gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. Everything went their way against the Alton Redbirds as they made off with a 34-13 victory. The win was nothing new for the Crusaders as they're now sitting on 15 straight dating back to last season.

Leading Althoff Catholic to victory were Jayden Ellington and Steven Brown. Ellington rushed for 39 yards and one score, while Brown gained 95 total yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Althoff Catholic proved: they limited Alton to a paltry 2.4 yards per carry. The Crusaders didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Althoff Catholic will host Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Alton, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Quincy at 7:00 p.m.
