Recap: Community Leadership Academy Lions vs. St. John Paul II Panthers
This season hasn't been kind to the Community Leadership Academy Lions, who are still winless after their fifth game. They fell 53-42 to St. John Paul II on Tuesday. Community Leadership Academy lost against St. John Paul II in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 54-13 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Community Leadership Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Levi Johnson. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Brown, who scored 15 points.
St. John Paul II got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mario Forbes out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. Forbes is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Shalako Moxey, who scored 12 points.
Community Leadership Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for St. John Paul II, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Community Leadership Academy will head out on the road to face off against Munroe at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Munroe is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.5 points per game. As for St. John Paul II, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gadsden County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Gadsden County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
