Softball Recap: Opp Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Opp won against Straughn last Tuesday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Opp Bobcats never let the New Brockton Gamecocks get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

Crislyn Birge was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addison Moseley, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Birge wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Opp kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Opp pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for New Brockton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Opp has already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Wicksburg on the 14th. As for New Brockton, they will venture away from home to square off against Ashford at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
